Positive Psychology isn't All Fluff

Positive Psychology isn't All Fluff

You know those people who say “Look on the bright side” or “Just think positively”? Yeah, sometimes I want them to disappear too.

Nothing is more annoying than having someone say that to you when you’re in a bad mood or when times are tough.

Happiness isn't the kind of thing you can “fake until you make it”.

One of the biggest myths about positive psychology is that it’s all about happiness and positivity.

And while it is true that positive psychology promotes happiness and positivity, it’s about so much more. And it’s definitely not about forced, fake happiness.

“Positive psychology is the science of optimal human functioning. It aims to discover and promote the factors that allow individuals and communities to thrive.”
— Martin Seligman, Founder of Positive Psychology

Helping people learn to experience all the emotions, both negative and positive and how to process them effectively so that we don’t get stuck in the negative - which happens all too often.

The goal in positive psychology is to increase the amount of positive emotions in our lives and reduce the amount of time we feel negative emotions, not ignore negative emotions completely.

I’m currently working towards achieving a certificate in applied positive psychology and it’s opening my eyes to so much possibility.  Positive psychology can help us grow and succeed in every area of our life, and I can’t wait to share more with you.
