Let’s talk about your strengths and why it’s important to know what they are.

Or if video’s not your thing, keep reading below.

Now let’s dive in. There are many benefits to knowing and understanding your strengths.

And the first is that it can make you happier. Our brains are wired to focus more on negative things, so unless we consciously try to focus on the positive, we’ll be more likely to notice our weaknesses and not even notice what our strengths are or sometimes even forget we have them.

Not only does it make you happier, but it also increases your confidence by helping to turn down the volume on your inner critic, that little voice in your head that tries to tell you that you’re not good enough or smart enough and that you’ll never succeed.

When you understand your strengths, you’re able to recognize that your inner critic is lying to you because you know you have the strengths and abilities to succeed.

And that increased confidence can also make you more resilient.

When you’re confident in yourself and know your strengths, you know you can handle whatever challenges life brings you and you know how to use your natural strengths to help you bounce back from any setbacks. And not just bounce back, but actually bounce forward.

When you use your strengths to overcome challenges and setbacks, you can grow and come out on the other side stronger and more resilient, so it’s not just bouncing back to where you were before because you’ve grown, so it’s more like you bounced forward.

A common myth about strengths is that you should work on improving your weaknesses so that they won’t drag you down so much, but it’s actually better to work on improving and using your strengths effectively.

Working on your strengths rather than your weaknesses can help you achieve your goals faster because it’s easier to work on your strengths. It takes more effort to work on improving weaknesses and it doesn’t have as much of an impact as it does when you work on your strengths.

Part of the reason why working on your strengths will help you make faster progress towards your goals is that you’ll be more engaged in your work. It just feels better to be in a place where you feel like you’re good at what you’re doing, so you’ll naturally enjoy the work.

It’s like walking downhill vs. uphill. Downhill is just easier and you’ll get to where you’re going faster.
