It's World Sleep Day!

It’s World Sleep Day today!

Remember that episode of The Office when Kelly got to take a nap at work as a birthday present?

That’s kind of how I feel right now, lol!

All jokes aside though, I’m really excited to have a reason to talk about sleep today (not that I need one).

I believe that getting enough sleep is the most important thing we can do for our health (both physical and mental). And it’s one of the best things we can do to increase our productivity.

It seems counterintuitive that being awake fewer hours can help us get more done, but it’s absolutely true. Until I experienced it myself, I didn’t believe the difference would be so drastic.

After years of being chronically sleep-deprived, when I finally started getting enough sleep, not only did I get more done than when I was staying up late to keep working, but I felt better, happier, and enjoyed my work more.

If you’re chronically sleep-deprived like I was, try getting enough sleep every night for a week and see how it affects you. If a whole week sounds too daunting, start with tonight and take it a day at a time.

I have to warn you though, if you’ve been sleep deprived for years, like I was, it’s going to take more than a day or maybe even more than a week before you’ll get back to your normal.

The effort is completely worth it though.

You know that feeling when you sleep in on the weekend without an alarm, and you wake up but you don’t get out of bed right away and you stay there under the covers for a while, maybe half awake and half sleeping/dreaming? Isn’t that the best feeling in the world?

Imagine feeling that good every morning when you wake up… Feeling rested, happy, energized and excited to dive into the day.

That’s my dream for you and for all people. Imagine what the world might be like if we all woke up feeling that way most days...

I just needed to cry...

I just needed to cry...
